The IEEE 1687 Internal JTAG (IJTAG) standard enhances the portability and re-use of embedded instrument intellectual property (IP) and defines a dynamically scalable on-chip network for instrumentation IP. A new eBook published by ASSET explains these innovations and others such as managing power domains with IJTAG, enabling instrument concurrence and retargeting test vectors.
“The IJTAG standard makes it easier for engineers to characterize chips, as well as validate and test circuit boards because it standardizes the method for accessing and operating on-chip instruments,” said Al Crouch, vice chairman of the IJTAG working group and one of ASSET’s chief technologist. “In doing so, IJTAG enables a lot of other features that are very valuable to the industry, including the portability and re-use of instrument IP from one chip design to the next and a dynamically scalable on-chip network for all of the IJTAG instrument IP. A detailed explanation of these and other IJTAG innovations hasn’t been available until now with this new eBook.”
The new eBook, “IEEE 1687 IJTAG | The Future of Embedded Instruments”, is available free as a download from the eResources center on the ASSET website.
Other informative eBooks, white papers and videos on issues relating to chip, board and system debug, validation and test also can be downloaded from our eResource Library.
