ASSET notches two more Best in Test finalist awards from Test & Measurement World magazine

Richardson, TX – ASSET® InterTech continued to be recognized for technical achievement as two products were named Best in Test 2010 finalists in Test & Measurement World magazine’s annual awards program. ASSET (www.asset-intertech.com) is the leading supplier of open tools for embedded instrumentation.

Two instances of the ScanWorks® platform for embedded instrumentation were named finalists in Best in Test’s “DFT, Boundary Scan and Emulation” category for products that were introduced during 2009. ScanWorks® for embedded boundary scan and ScanWorks support for validation and test of Intel® Xeon® Processor 5500 Series (codenamed Nehalem) printed-circuit boards were both named finalists. An online voting process through Feb. 19 will determine the first place winners in each category.

“Having two products named finalists this year is quite an accomplishment in itself,” said Glenn Woppman, president and CEO of ASSET. “Finalists are chosen by the editors of Test & Measurement World, whose knowledge of the test industry is certainly considerable. A lot of hard work and visionary technical leadership went into achieving these two distinctions for ASSET.”

ScanWorks for embedded boundary scan is an embeddable intellectual property (IP) version of the ScanWorks platform for system manufacturers that require extreme reliability, availability and serviceability of products in the field. With ScanWorks embedded in the system, system-level tests, diagnostics and programming algorithms can be applied locally or remotely, providing unparalleled control of operations, administration and maintenance. One manufacturer that is already taking advantage of embedded ScanWorks IP is the supercomputer company Cray® Inc. ScanWorks is being embedded into Cray’s next-generation supercomputers to supply high-reliability and remote diagnostics.

Support for validation and test of Intel Xeon designs earned ScanWorks a Best in Test finalist distinction because ScanWorks is the first and only tester in the industry to support both signal integrity design validation and circuit board test for Xeon-based circuit boards. ScanWorks deploys three non-intrusive technologies — boundary scan, built-in self-test and processor-controlled test (PCT) — to validate and test Xeon boards.

ScanWorks® – The Embedded Instrumentation Platform

ASSET, through its ScanWorks platform, is applying the experience it has gained from two decades as a leading supplier of boundary-scan test tools to the development of open embedded instrumentation tools. The boundary-scan infrastructure that is embedded into chips and circuit boards is one of several technologies that can form the basis for an embedded instrumentation toolset. In recent years, ASSET has significantly enhanced its ScanWorks® platform with embedded instrumentation capabilities such as processor-controlled test (PCT) and tools for Intel® IBIST (Interconnect Built-In Self Test).
